  • 4-6-2006: You may be able to remember April 6th, 2001...High Risk, lots of forecasted tornadic supercells...and a vigorous squall line as a result. Well I can tack up another disappointing April 6th. Waited for the formation of an intense surface low in southcentral NE, only to have an area of secondary pressure falls elongate it and cause supercells to be limited to south of our position (half a state south). Made it to the big storm of the day just in time for it to stop producing tornadoes. Ah well...I guess I'm not going back to NE any time soon. Photos here.

  • 4-5-2006: Working on plans to create a detailed GIS Shapefile outlining the damage paths of the May 29th, 2004 Central Oklahoma tornadoes. The data set should prove useful for a large group of researchers studying the storm, and will also be central to the successful completion of my project.

  • 4-3-2006: WDSS-II analysis of May 29th, 2004 continues. Running into a few problems with TDA/MDA detections, though. Hmmmm.

  • 4-1-2006: Targeted Childress TX for two reasons...moisture wasn't good enough farther north, and a buldge in the dryline was forming sothwest of Childress. The forecast was correct, and we were able to see several cycles of an HP Supercell before it completely gusted out. Got a few more dents on the car too! Photos here. I also tried unsuccesfully to take some lightning photos of the CASA radar in Chickishaw.

  • 3-30-2006: Targeted the central part of the Kansas/Nebraska border. Surface low didn't form as planned and the cold-core setup went to crap. Dropped south and had a bit of fun in an occluded mesocyclone with some golfball-sized hail. For the most part, a worthless day...it's still March, though...right? Photos here.

  • 10/26/2005 to 10/29/2005 - Trip to Albuquerque for the 32nd Conference on Radar Meteorology. I will be presenting my poster on my current research project.

  • 10/18/2005 - I have completed a revised plan for my graduate school experience. After careful consideration, I have decided on switching to a non-thesis Masters in Meteorology to help aleviate scheduling difficulties with the dual-masters degree programs. The new plan has me graduating in December 2007, provided I can keep up with 9 credit hours of graduate work each semester along with the research.
